Crocus Bud Revisited

Every morning for the last few months, I worked on the Crocus Bud Shawl while my coffee brewed. It became such a pleasant daily habit, I was actually a little sad last week when I realized the piece was about as long as it needed to be.

Yarn: Madelinetosh Prairie in Winter Wheat
Hook: 3.5mm

The pattern is written as a rectangular scarf or shawl, but I made it an infinity cowl by slip-stitching the two edges together.

It seems really odd now, not seeing that beautiful golden color waiting for me on the kitchen counter each morning. I have about 250 yards of this gorgeous Madelinetosh Prairie left and feel like I've got to use it for something. Any ideas? (Doesn't have to be crochet.)

The Crocus Bud Shawl is one of those designs that's a joy to make more than once. A few years ago I made a wide, cozy version in Knit Picks Shadow:

It's entirely likely I'll make another Crocus Bud ... and if anyone I normally make gifts for would like one, for a 2012 birthday maybe, feel free to drop a hint! Be sure to tell me which colors of Prairie you like, because I would love to work with this yarn again. (Colorways of Madelinetosh Prairie here.)

ooo such a great idea!! I think I'm going to follow your lead and make another into an infinity scarf. I also thought it was a really nice pattern to work on. Thanks for sharing Bonnie

lovely!!! I'd perhaps do another cowl, one not so drapey, with the remaining yarn...

That is absolutely gorgeous! I am in love with the color and the way it is so light and drapey and lacey. Amazing, amazing job.

I'd love to crochet the same cowl as your adapted crocus bud cowl but before buying the pattern I wonder if there will be a lot of changes to do?
I want to crochet it in madeline tosh lace yarn (3,5mm or 5mm crochet?) ans same lenght and width as mentionned in the initial pattern or did you adapted it?
Than you for your answers:)
Your cowl is just wonderful...

I began with 53 chains and used a 3.50mm hook. I worked the pattern until the piece was 48 inches long. It was 8 inches wide before blocking.

I wet blocked it using wires. The blocked dimensions were 56 inches long by 10.25 inches wide. I slip stitched the beginning and ending edges together after the cowl was blocked.

Hope this helps!
