Better Late Than Never

With high hopes I joined a mystery socks KAL hosted by designer Kirsten Kapur and cast on these on New Year's Day:

Mystery Sock
Pattern: Kelmscott, by Kirsten Kapur
Yarn: Fiberphile Squooshy Sock in the Mithril colorway
Needles: US 0/2.00mm dpns

And when did I finish them? The answer is ... let's see ... um ... that would be ... um ... October 25.

They are not complicated socks. They might look it but really they're not, especially if—like me—you use the simplest of the various options the pattern offers. They would have been a relatively quick knit, if I hadn't kept putting them on the back burner.

I loved the yarn. It completely lives up to the "squooshy" part of its name. And I have loved the color from the start—so much so that I chose the very same color in a DK weight for my Goodnough cardigan (which was just one of the projects that kept me from finishing the socks).

Anyway, all's well that ends well. The socks are comfy and fun to wear. They pretty much demand that you roll up your cuffs and show them off, so that's what I did today.

Speaking of beautiful sock yarn, it's time to announce a winner for the butterscotch yarn giveaway. The Random Number Generator says it's Jaci (packerfan on Ravelry). Congrats, Jaci, and thanks to everyone for participating. I enjoyed reading about your holiday crafting plans and am in awe of the super ambitious among you. I wish you all the best with them!

Thanks! The shoes are Keens. They're several years old, though. I'm not sure this style is still available. They have great arch support and are very comfortable - perfect for walking as well as showing off handknit socks!
