Setting Sail

Heirloom Boat_1

It was sunny and warm when I made this boat in Ann Wood's Heirloom Boats class at Squam Art Workshops last June.

Now it's cold and getting dark early and summer is long gone. And it's time to make another little boat. This one will be a true heirloom boat, with mementos and fabrics contributed by most everybody in my family.

So far, it has a kitty-cat stern (punch needle embroidery by my sister Betsey).

We didn't have time to make the wee bird passengers in our class, so I don't have one to refer to as I make this boat. I will just have to wing it (sorry, couldn't resist the pun).

I'm looking forward to seeing the boat as it takes shape.

What a neat project (and a funny pun). It'll be fun to see how it comes together. It's always fun to see all the different things you're doing.
