Such wonderful things arrived in my mailbox during Month of Letters: postcards, letters, photos, artisan chocolate, origami, lace notecards, Valentines, and even confetti from the Carnevale di Venezia ...

Pictures from near and far took my mind off the two feet of snow brought by Nemo—a Gee's Bend quilt, the aurora borealis in Alaska, the Rockywold Dining Hall at Squam Art Workshops (that one brought back happy memories as well as anticipation for this June).

I did manage to mail at least one item, and often more than one, on every day of February except Sundays and President's Day. Probably the one I was happiest to send was a card of congratulations to friends whose first baby was born right at the end of the month. "Hello sweet cheeks," it said.

Thanks to all who sent mail last month. You helped make February—usually the dreariest month of the year—so much brighter.
