Worked back and forth from the top down, the Catharus Shawl (named for the Vermont state bird, the hermit thrush, Catharus guttatus) features a wide rib that flows into sculptural, nupp-flecked lace.
Finished Measurements:
Width: 65” / 165 cm along top edge
Depth: 33” / 84 cm at center
Yarn: 800 yards/732 m fingering weight or sock yarn. The rose-colored sample was knit with Green Mountain Spinnery Lana (100% wool; 400yd/366m per 100 gr skein), color: Rosado, 2 skeins.
Needles: US Size 4 / 3.5 mm and US Size 5 / 3.75 mm 24” or longer circular needle
Notions: Stitch markers, tapestry needle, waste yarn, US Size G / 4 mm crochet hook for garter-stitch tab cast-on
Gauge: 20 sts & 31 rows = 4” / 10 cm in Stockinette Stitch on smaller needle after blocking
